The story thus far

The story thus far (continued)

The Past
Alice in Wonderland has been horribly portrayed as a cutesy little childrens tale by productiions such as Disney (which ruins every great tale). It isn't. It has also been severly unjustified to the fact that it's all about a girl "tripping" on drugs.

Granted, Lewis Carrol (the author) was on LSD when he wrote Alice in Wonderland, however, contrary to popular belief, the story has nothing to do with drugs.

What led to the site
Having an intrest in literature, especially macabre, dark literature, I spent alot of time researching the story of Alice in Wonderland as well as the sequel, Through the Looking Glass.

And apon discovering the actual story to it all (which made it absolutely mindblowing), I wanted this great tale to get the credit it really deserves. Thus came this site.

So what is it all about?
As I mentioned earlier, this isn't some simple child's tale. Nor is it a tale about some girl "tripping" on drugs.

Alice in Wonderland is about a girl who suffers from dillusions. All of the experiances literally happened in her head. But not as though she was dreaming, which is another wide spread misconception. When her mother "woke her up" in the book, she actually snaps her out of a dillusion. Alice wasn't sleeping. She was sitting there, eyes wide open, staring off into space. However, her eyes said that she was somewhere else.

To her, she was really in Wonderland. But only in her head did it all seem real. But in actuallity, it was only her dillusion.

Since then, she's had numerous dillusions of wonderland. In the sequel to Alice in Wonderland, Through the Looking Glass, Alice goes to an Asylum after her parents die. Leaving a whole slew of inner demons as well as deep feelings of guilt.

This had it's effects on Wonderland. Because Wonderland is her place, her inner sanctum, it develops with her mental being. So, if all is right with her mind, all is right in Wonderland, however, if all is broken, distorted, twisted in her mind, so is Wonderland.
American McGee's Alice ( a game for the PC) is not just a game, it's the third installment of the story of Alice in Wonderland. It picks up right where Through the Looking Glass left off. The game elaborates more on the concept of how Wonderland works in relation to Alice's mental being.

I cannot fully explain all of the workings, It can't be explained, however, I strongly urge you to read the books (again if you have already) and play the game. Through careful consideration, you can see the true meaning behind it all.
